About the Herman B Wells Greek Education Fund

Herman B Wells, was the 11th president of Indiana University.  He served the university in a variety of capacities.  Chancellor Wells had a vision and a passion for our Greek community that set benchmarks for those who have followed his leadership path.

There are 74 fraternities and sororities at IU involving over 7,100 students.  Greek organizations provide members with opportunities to lead, serve, build positive relationships, and grow intellectually.

Your gift will be used to help support students as they promote the values and principles with which Greek organizations were founded, to increase leadership opportunities and promote active involvement among all members of the Greek Community, to teach the history of fraternal organizations and to increase participation in fraternities and sororities.  Your gift may also be used to bring national educational speakers to campus, provide scholarships to leadership conferences, ensure funding for educational programs within the Greek community, and to stress the importance of diversity.

Your contribution to the Herman B Wells Greek Education Fund may help to support immediate needs such as:

  • Greek Leadership Academy
  • Leadership Training Grants
  • New Member Educator Round-tables
  • Diversity Education Grants
  • Cross-Council Collaborations
  • Greek Awards Celebrations
  • Catalyst Leadership Retreats
  • Indiana Greek Emerging Leaders (IGEL) Retreat

Indiana University Bloomington has an opportunity to become not only the largest but one of the best and safest Greek communities in the country.

Your gift will honor Dr. Wells' legacy and vision for a values based fraternity and sorority experience.
