More Info

IU Cinema is more than an arthouse cinema. It is an energetic participant in the life of Indiana University.

Presenting more than 300 public programs per year, IU Cinema has established itself as one of the premier screening rooms in the country.

Programs include visiting filmmakers, contemporary global cinema, silent-film screenings with live music, academic and community partnerships, and special retrospectives and film series.

When you give to IU Cinema, you are supporting unique experiences, accessible programs, and student success. Please help us continue this commitment to transformative cinematic experiences by making a gift today.

Programming Unique Experiences

Through numerous partnerships with academic units across campus, IU Cinema has created a new programming model for integrating film into curriculum.

With this model:

  • Faculty members have a way to bring cinematic treatments of themes into teaching and research.
  • The general public has access to much more than what’s playing at the local multiplex.
  • Students have opportunities not just to see important films and gain insights into other cultures, but also to learn about the industry and be a part of the operations of a world-class cinema.

Providing Accessible Programs

Each academic year, more than half of our programming is presented with no admission charge, and we are committed to ensuring the majority of our programs are always free to students, faculty, staff, and the community.

In academic year 2016–2017, IU Cinema presented 302 public programs—154 of these programs were free.

Supporting Student Experiences

Among the opportunities IU Cinema provides for students is extensive technical training and professional development as projectionists. Our graduate students are the final link in the filmmaking chain, who we entrust with your cinematic experiences.

In academic year 2016–17, the funding necessary to support our graduate student projectionists was $24,534.48.

With your help, we can continue to fulfill the promise that great films remain accessible to all and support unparalleled learning opportunities for IU students along the way.

You can be the one who keeps our screen lit up. Please, make your gift today!
